Mick Hamilton 

(USA) - Teacher Explorer, Team Member 

Mick currently teaches 8th grade Geoscience at Northfield Middle School. His thirteen year teaching career has taken him to St.James, Minnesota, the Olympia, Washington area and the island of Saipan. Mick also was a naturalist at Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center in Finland, Minnesota. Organizing and leading student summer trips, has taking Mick to the Bitterroot Mountains in Idaho and canoeing and hiking in northern Minnesota, what he considers his second home.

One of the highlights in Mick's teaching career was when he was chosen to participate in the Sea Scholars program. This program grouped 15 teachers from around the country together to assist as researchers on a Navy survey vessel. The trip sailed from Key West, Florida to Corpus Christi, Texas.

His most recent teaching highlight was as the teacher explorer for Go North's ANWR 2006 expedition.

Mick has traveled in Europe, Bali, Java and extensively throughout the US. In his spare time he rock climbs, backpacks, camps, canoes and kayaks. He has had several huskies as pets that have taken him skijoring during the winter months. He has an amazing family that consists of his wife and son, a cat, and Norma Jean - a retired Polar Husky!
