Name That Puppy!
Thank you for joining us in finding the perfect name for one of the new crew members of the Polar Husky Superstars.
The KARE 11 puppy and her seven siblings were born June 26th, 2007 by their spirited mother Xena. Their father is none other than the mighty Polar Husky veteran Peto, for whom this year's journey to Chukotka, Russia was his last adventure learning expedition.
Now - what should we name the KARE 11 Polar Husky puppy?
That's up to you! We will choose a name from your submissions!
Please fill out all the fields in the form below and send your ideas to us. Note, your information will not be shared with any other parties.
Tune into the KARE 11 Sunrise Edition on the first day of school, Tuesday, September 4, to find out what name has been chosen!
...Or, should you happen to be in the neighborhood of the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday, September 1st, the name will be announced by Team GoNorth! at 10 and 11 AM on the stage by the University of Minnesota building. The name will ofcourse also be announced right here on PolarHusky.com
A few words on naming a Polar Husky puppy...
Before you get your mind set on a name - try to yell it out loud! (please do not bother other people in this practice :-)). Remember Aaron, Paul, Mille and the other members of Team GoNorth! will be calling out this name in all sorts of weather, including 40 mile an hour windstorms. Sometimes it's to encourage our new crew member and sometimes it's to let her know she needs to learn from the moment. So, you need to be able to call the name out loud sounding very kind and encoraging as well as firmly.
A couple of other things to keep in mind:
Polar Huskies are never named after 'people, friends and family.'
Polar Huskies are never given the same name as Polar Huskies that have passed away.
Make sure that the name does not 'sound like' the name of other Polar Huskies in the kennel.
Most Polar Husky names have two syllables. If three syllables or more, make sure that a nice 'nickname' can come when the word is cut short to two syllables (!). An example of a name with two syllables is Tuc-ker. His brother is named Do-mi-no. That is three syllables. Domino's nickname is 'Domi.'
That's it! We can't wait to see your ideas!
