We Are Pack Dogs

I will never forget the first time I met Spank. Spank was what we called our "Boss Dog." That means he was in charge of all of us. In a wolf pack, there is an alpha male and an alpha female who are in charge of the hierarchy (like a mom and dad that are in charge of the family)! Spank was our alpha male - the top dog. He could be very serious and reprimanding if we were messing around! But he was also a really nice guy.

This is how our Kennel looks. We have big trees that provide shade in the summertime (it can be HOT with those big coats). We each have our own circle and our own house. Being together like this, we can play with our neighbors. Around the yard is a big fence, and every day in the summertime, Paul and Mille let us run around and play for a while. That way we get to have fun with each other and stay good friends.

I could not imagine living apart from all of my friends. We are often called "pack dogs" because it is so important to us to be together. Okay, I'll admit, sometimes we can get tired of it, but just for a short while. We like to let each other know how we are doing - AND everybody around us - so we howl a lot. We always howl when the sun rises, kind of like a rooster ... and when we are fed.
