Timber Tales     Week 07

It looks like we are flying to Chukotka next week. I know, I know. I am beginning to sound like a broken record.

Oh! Do you know what a record is? Records are what Paul listened to music on when he was little. I believe now-a-days you kids listen to mp3-things. Tucker is really good at technology and gadgets. He's telling me that a broken record is the same as when your mp3 is corrupt. Before the mp3, it was a CD and sometimes dust on a CD would make it skip. Before the CD it was a cassette tape and he doesn't know why, but tape players would sometimes "eat" the tape. Before that, it was the record. He says they were big! Like a really big CD. They were usually black and they had grooves in them. If they got scratched, the needle that would read the information on the record would get caught in the scratch so everything would repeat. repeat. repeat. repeat. repeat.

And well a broken record is kinda how I feel. Every week we Polar Huskies get all excited thinking we are going to get to go and then something happens. Sometimes it is something new. Sometimes it is the same thing as the before.  Luckily, Paul has a lot of friends here who are helping him work things out from our end. I know everyone back at Education Basecamp is doing all they can too.

But, what can I say? We are pulling machines. That is what we love to do most. So it is understandable that we are all getting antsy. What can I tell you....Goodie and Lightning are helping me with my Bird Patrol. We've decided to expand it to any kind of bird from just Ravens. I think the people in Nome are really going to miss us... We warn them about birds at all hours of the day! At first it just starts out as me, Goodie and Lightning. Then Peto is quick to join in and before you know it, all 22 of us are howling away. Oh, it's nice and loud. There is no mistaking it. Some people say it sounds like the wind when you have your window opened just a little bit so the wind comes howling on through the crack.

I have to admit, I was slightly distracted from my Bird Patrol over the weekend. It was snowing these big wonderful wet flakes - just had to watch it. I think I heard Paul telling you about it on the satellite phone too. Tucker just said this was the Audio Update for Sunday, April 1. Lipton is saying to tell you that this wasn't an April Fool's joke either... It really did snow!! Running, pulling the 4-wheeler through heavy snow like that we really get to pull hard plowing through the snow. It is slow but feels so great to be working!

Paul's new best of friend, Karlin...kinda like me and Peto...he has a team of super fast little racing huskies - they pull little tiny sleds and run super fast. They were all going on a plane too. Remember those little Iditarod huskies that were here racing. Well, I guess now some of them and Karlin's team are going to another race 'Kobuk 400.' But because of all that nice snow they couldn't leave right on time. They had to wait around for a bit - Like us!  So, they all came here and we had a slumber party. It was a howlin' good time!

Ahhh soon it is our turn. Mille is coming here this weekend! I can't wait to get on a plane again. I just love flying so much. And I am thinking Chukotka must be very incredible...It sure is hard to get there. I heard talk about how there is a lot of gold there. Must be good eats if it is that fancy!? That's exciting I gather. I am really excited about talking with some Russian dogs. Never done that before!
