Timber Tales
Week 05
I still have not seen any sign of the sleds. I know we didn't forget them because I was right next to them in my box on my pallet in the plane we came here to Nome with. I understand they are in that building where the plane we will we are suppose to flying on next is too. They other day Paul came driving up to us on a four wheeler - I could feel the hairs on my legs stand up so excited did I get. Sure enough, Paul pulled out our harnesses, the lines, hooked everything up the four wheeler and started hitching us!! Finally!! Back in the harness. I was running next to my buddie Peto, I have known Peto almost my whole life and he is a great guy - he really knows how to be noisy. It felt so good to be pulling again, running across the ice. Lots of ice around here, not very much snow - so that means we can run really fast as a team. About team, there has been a lot of noise around here who would go if really only ten of us were allowed to go. I mean besides me and Good Thunder and Peto... No, I really can't imagine all of us not going.
What would you do? I know we have our own Zone in that place where you read this - I mean there is something called the Dog Zone. You should go there. Fun place, I guess there can be stories about dogs, pictures, movies, sounds from all over the world. Maybe you can think about what ten dogs you would bring, go to the Zone write it up and share it with us?
Something new and exciting to make the time go by. I am never bored. So much to keep an eye on, listen to and do! But I have to admit I would really like to get going on pulling those sleds really soon. If we are not home we are rarely in one place for this long. All those fast little Iditarod sled dogs that came running in here from that race I told you about - they already went on their airplanes and left. I have been able to sleep more since, there was so much going on then. I mean, of course I always sleep with one ear up and an eye ready to open. Not to many polar bears to be looking out for right here I gather.
Never know what will be coming at us. The other day people gathered around to play this game. Each person seemed to have an endless amount of little white snow balls. Harder than snow balls actually I think cause then they would walk around in groups and have these long handles, stand over the snowball and then hit it with the long handled club. Then they stare for a really long tome after the little ball whirling through the air and then go chase it. They didn't try to catch it though - and they didn't bring it back either. It did seem like they were try to get it to go somewhere they had in mind though. We Polar Huskies don't really play with balls, but I hear that's a favorite thing to do for many dogs? You know about that? Maybe share what you know in the Dog Zone too?
We Polar Huskies like to just run and pull! Hopefully soon that is all we will be doing again.
